Re Mediabin Hot Folder
garima
I have a requirement wherein a source folder on filesystem will be configured as a hot folder. This source folder will receive files from other systems in batch...4-5 times a day.
Once the mediabin ingests these files after each batch, I want to send the log file to an admin.
As I understand Mediabin syncs source folder on a continuous basis and will not distinguish if a batch import is done.
Is there any way possible for me to know if one set of files for a batch has been ingested so that accordingly a mail to admin can be sent.

You should be able to write a simple script that can do this. There is no OOTB way that HotFolders can send e-mail.

There is a undocumented feature to use the hot folder service to monitor a MediaBin folder and have an email sent based on an event in that folder. The issue is a separate email would be sent for each asset that was ingested.
Oen the Hot Folder editor and create a new hot folder that points to the MediaBin folder that you're ingesting assets to, then disbale that hot folder. You'll then need to open the HotFoldersConfig.xml file in the MBTempDir\HotFolders directory. The hot folder you just created will have a number assigned to HotFolderSRC mID=" ". It should be something like 0_2. You'll need this number for the next step.
Attached is an options.xml file. I added the .txt extension so you'll need to remove it once downloaded. This file gets placed in the MBTempDir\HotFolders directory. You'll need to edit this file to replace the email addresses and server details (lines 5,6,8,12,16,17). You'll then replace the mID= with the value in your HotfolderConfig.xml file (line 3).
Once you restart the hot folder service an email will be sent when any asset gets added to this MediaBin folder

Is there any particular reason to have this undocumented (still)? I know if there are any issues with this config support will not even know about this "feature" and won't hesitate to lift their hands high up in the air.
