hi,

I got error like "templating error page" when trying to open a DCR.

The detailed message is "An exception was thrown , stopping after fatal error :The markup in the document following the root element must be well-formed".

My teamsite version is a little older. But when open other DCR seemed to be fine.

What would be the issue for this error ? What should I check for this DCR ?

Any suggestion is appreciated.

It sounds like either the DCR or DCT associated with the DCR got corrupted / munged somehow. You need to use a [reasonable] text editor to examine the DCR from the file system interface - if you cannot see the problem there - check the DCT - if you cannot see the problem there - you will probably need to post one or both of the files here (which you might not be allowed to do for various reasons) in order for anyone here to provide more assistance.

What version of TeamSite are you using? webdesk is from the 5.x days and that version has been out of support for years. If you're using 6.x - then it sounds like you have some old 5.x code embedded somewhere.

You should be looking to upgrade ASAP - it may not be worth your time and effort to try and debug the issue in 5.5 ...

As Adam said you will likely get very little support on this error. That copy of TS is so old only a handul of people on the list have experience with it and likely few if any actually have a copy.

One thing to look at is the browser/client you are using. Since that was EOL in 2005 or 2006, the odds of it supporting IE7, Vista, Mozilla, and any newer OS/browser are slim to none. If you have an XP server with IE6 (and probably JVM 1.4) try it.

And to my surprise, when I replaced the incorrect DCR with some other correct DCR (which can be open without issue, I just changed the file name ), I still got the same issue.

Do you have any "inline" Tags in the corresponding datacapture.cfg?

If you do, check their output. What you've described sounds suspiciously like malformed DCT XML generated on the fly.
It can be as simple as naked ampersand in the drop-down option, stray error/debug messages etc
