Newly created item is not appearing in old DCRs

I have added an new item in the datacapture.cfg, i set default value also when ever i edit the exting DCR the item is appeared but the default value is not getting it shows the blank value.can any one please provide a solution.

Could you please post the form api code - how are you setting the value of the new item?

If you are setting the default value in the DCT (as literally a <default>...</default> value) - then it will only get set for New DCRs. Defaults do not apply to pre-existing DCRs.

If you are setting the default value via FormAPI, it's a matter of how you coded it to set the default value which will determine whether it is designed to work for both new and pre-existing DCRs.

Another alternative is to write a script that goes through and modifies all pre-existing DCRs to programmatically insert the new field with its default value in and DCR that does not already contain that field. This requires skill in coding and testing to verify that it works correctly.
