addthis bookmarking component

I've built a very simple component to embed the bookmarking widget from adthis.com in LiveSite pages. However, when placing this component on a page it just hangs without ever fully loading, which makes positioning it etc problematic.

When previewing the component itself it displays OK, as it does when viewed on the published page.

Anyone any ideas as to why this could be happening?

No errors that I can see. The (very simple) component definition is attached. I've also tried an alternative bookmarking utility and experience the same issue.

i just tried this in IE7 and FF 2 against LS 3.1 and was able to add to favorites.

i previewed the component directly from content center clicking preview on the component it self.

have you tried using firebug or the IE debugger?

The dropdown window doesn't display when it perceives there's not enough real estate. I tried it and noticed when viewing in Component->Edit->Preview that if my component size was too small, the it did nothing on mouseover. The size of the popup depends on what options you've configured, but 260x200 was sufficient for the defaults.

Is that what's happening for you?

I know you said you're using 6.7.1/3.0.2, but in case others find this thread, here's a social bookmarking component for 6.7.2/3.1 that uses the free AddThis service, but has all the customization options to configure your widget's appearance and behavior in the component properties.

To install the .spar:
1. rename the attachment to social_bookmarking_component.spar.
2. from your TeamSite/install directory, run install_archive.ipl to install the spar (SitePublisher ARchive), e.g.
install_archive.ipl c:/temp/social_bookmarking_component.spar /default/main/mybranch/WORKARE/myworkarea
The spar contains only the one component.

I can add favourites and preview fine when clicking on the component itself, the problem only occurs when it's placed on a page.

Paul, sorry I don't have 3.0.2 to reproduce it, and I don't see the same thing in 3.1 with your same component. I have seen that problem before with other components, and it's usually debugged on the client, by a combination of looking for exceptions in the HTML source for the iframe, and using Firebug to look for related Javascript errors.

Sorry I can't be more help. You could bring it up with Interwoven support. It seems pretty isolated and easy to reproduce.

Thanks again Stokes. I've raised this with support and their current theory is that it may be due to our firewall settings.
