Passing the xml file into datacapture.cfg

Hi,

How can we pass a xml file into datacapture.cfg?

I am using the attached code into my datacapture.cfg and passing path of the file into 'xmlDoc=loadXMLDoc("")' but its showing error(may be due to passing the value like windows file system(xmlDoc=loadXMLDoc("C:"+"\\"+"Documents and Settings"+"\\"+"My Documents"+"\\"+"a.xml") Smiley Wink

Actually i want to fetch the some item values(filter1 & filter2) from the existing generated file(suppose a.xml) into my drop downs of datacapture.cfg.

Suppose if we are able to get the values of the filters from the existing file ‘a.xml’ then how we can pass these values into the drop downs in datacapture.cfg.

If you need it for the certain Data Type the easiest way is with the "inline" callouts.
See FormsPublisher Developer’s Guide for details.

If what you have to do depends on the user input (eg, particular DCR, not just DCT) you can use
TS FormAPI and it's callServer method. FormAPI Manual contains samples illustrating how to modify
DC Form Items, populate drop-downs and the like. See FormsPublisher FormAPI Developer’s Guide.

Note that both these approaches assume that the XML you want to parse is located somewhere on servers.
What you are trying to do requires local Client-side XML, *visible* to the user's browser directly or perhaps
on mapped Drives, etc. This "loadXMLDoc" function of yours is not a standard DOM function, we have no way of
knowing why it fails. You'd have to debug your code, apply "try catch", etc...

Capture the XML into your IPL as follows:

Then you can call this IPL in your datacapture form to retrieve the XML values.
