Object disappears from VFE.

We noticed a peculiar behavior on a form when an object was added to a VFE field. In html view of a VFE field, following code was added, form was completed and saved. This VFE field is an inline VFE field.

When this content record is opened for editing, the form shows the object but when you click in the VFE field, the object disappears. If the VFE view were changed to HTML view, the code added is still there but WYSIWYG view does not show the object. Has anyone else experienced this as well?

Also if you add an IFRAME in HTML view and change VFE view to WYSIWYG view, the iframe code gets removed from the field. now if you were to go back to HTML view, the iframe code will not be there !!!!!!

Is this a bug or intended behavior of VFE?

No, this is not a bug. Your Object does not disappear, it's just ignored.

VFE is MS ActiveX control. It uses mshtml.dll to render WYSIWYG html Fragment. To play your Audio/Video some other
plug-in is needed, Windows Media Player, Macromedia, whatever. mshtml.dll knows nothing about any of that and
the fact that your Browser has required plug-ins installed is absolutely irrelevant.

VFE does not show/play media Files, period. There is not much you can do about that. Besides this sad fact,
what is the problem you are trying to solve?

The fact that VFE does not show media files is understood and we can live with that. There is another issue that we are experiencing and that is, if you add code for an iframe in HTML view of a VFE enabled field, it gets deleted. The following steps will clarify the scenario.

Step 1:
-------
In the VFE field go to HTML view and add code for iframe "IFRAME height='375' width='375' frameborder='no' scrolling='no' src='http://mypage/player.aspx?source=http://mypage/hosted/488.asx'> /IFRAME"

The opening and closing angle brackets have been removed for readability.
Step 2:
-------
Change your view to WYSIWYG view

Step 3:
-------
Change your view back to html view. Now you would expect your html code to be there in this view. BUT IT IS GONE. For some reason, that code gets removed.

Is this a bug? If not, why and where did the code go?

Add an 'id' attribute to the iframe tag. Then it won't remove ur tag.
