reverting to previous version

I made changes to one file. Version for original file was 1. When I made changes, it created version 1+. Why does it not create version 2 ?

Later on , I decided to revert back to version 1. So I clicked on "revert" on version1. I could revert back to version 1, but version 1+ is gone. It no longer exists in version list. Why did newer version got deleted ? How can I keep newer version, while I am reverting to original version ?

The reason you lost the changes is that (as the GUI probably told you and you ignored) those changes were UNSUBMITTED and never versioned. Had they been submitted, you would have seen version 2 and could revert again back to version 2

At a very high level version 1+ means that you have edited this file (compared to TS Staging) in the workarea. Files get versioned when they get submitted to Staging. So in your case you have to submit version 1+ to Staging and that is when it'll become version 2.
