Dear All,

I want to dynamically set the configuration for visual formatter on one particular field in a DCT. Ideally I would like the configuration stored in the WORKAREA as we use one TeamSite server to support multiple environments. From the Visual format manual it indicates that you can specify a server side script for the configuration. I tried to specify a Perl script but it seems that the TeamSite engine just reads the configuration file in. I am guessing that maybe Interwoven have disabled this feature due to the implementation approach.

Does anyone have any advice?

Define, in more detail, "dynamically set the configuration file for visual formatter on one particular field in a DCT".
Do you mean that the configuration for this particular VFE field will be different based on the value populated into some other field within the DCT - or that the particular VFE field will have a different (but static) configuration from other VFE fields in the DCT?

Both are, I believe, possible - the latter is easiest as you just specify a different config file in the VFE parameters for the textarea. The former could be more complex. You might be able to utilize FormAPI / Javascript code to access the attribute and change it on-the-fly - but another approach would be to use either an OR container or hide/expose different statically defined textareas based on the value of another field.

As for referencing the config file from the workarea - that I'm not sure about it, but according to the Interwove documentation: [indent]external-editor-config: Specifies which configuration files can be
used. The default file is /iw/visualformatconfig.xml. If the path
starts with a /, it is assumed to be an absolute path on the TeamSite Web
server. Otherwise, the file is assumed to be in /iw. Refer to the TeamSite
FormsPublisher: VisualFormat Developer’s Guide. [/indent]You may be able to use a path like:

/iw-mount/default/main/.../WORKAREA/.../somedir/config_file

I've never tried it though.
