Dynamically update meta-data values

Hi,

My organization recently purchased this product and I am having trouble finding the answer to this question:

If I have a metadata Interwoven that mirrors a value in a table in my own database. If the value in my database changes, I would like the metadata value in Interwove's database to be automatically updated.

Can anyone point me to documentation on how to accomplish this?
