How can I create a LiveSite DCT component to read content created using teamsite.

I'm trying to create a RSS feed like component to display latest news/circulars in LiveSite, the content will come from TeamSite, How do I do this in LiveSite? Appreciate your help / Samples.

You may go through the livesite developers guide there is a chapter no-8 title Extending the Data Model there is a example of creating component FaqEntry.

I hope you will get help from this.

you can consume DCR's simply by adding DCr type Datums to your component Data XML the Content of the DCR will replace the value of the Datum during transformation. You can view this in the component edit Preview functionality.

The DCR is an Datum Type used to fetch a Data Content Record from TS.The standard format for this is

Name = text string
Type = "DCR"
Exposed = "true" | "false"
Replicatable = "true" | "false"
ReplicantSourceID = identifier>

Category = text string
Type = text string
DisableChooser = "true" | "false" > vpath

1. For element DCR
Category and Type are the two attributes,whereas Category is the DCR
Category(defined in your TS under the templatedata) ant Type is that
datatype under that Category(defined in your TS under the
templatedata/Category)

2. For element DCR-Category
It is the element with only one attribute "name".we simply use it to make
the entry of all Categories that we have defined in our TS under the
templatedata in a drop-down,so that we can select a particular DCR in
our components.

3. For element DCR-Type
It also has same significance in terms of all DCR Type(datatype under the
templatedata/category/datatype)

For more Information,Just Edit an Component and try the help link on the top of Content XML Block.Select Datum Type DCR.it will help u alot.

In general DCR Category means(Category to which this DCR belongs) and DCR Type means (datatype of that DCR).

Looks like the dataum type DCR can retrieve only 1 content XML, how to get content from multiple DCRs from TeamSite?

yes the DCR datum is just for a single DCR. you will need to write an external to do this. you will need to use the FileDal to read from the file system in both SitePublisher/Teamsite and runtime.

FileDALIfc is an Interwoven Propriteary Java Class that is used to access the File System of DCRs.It is present in the package com.interwoven.livesite.file.FileDALIfc"

See Chapter-8 "Extending The Data Model" of LIveSite pdf "ls_300sp1_dev_v2_en.pdf".In this Chapter An Example of FaqEntry has shown
that how you can use Multiple DCRs in a component,Basically as "tec_iwov" said that you need to write external methods to do that.Here in pdf they have shown that how you can loads the properties that are persisted in the DCRs of a Category.

just go through that chapter,you will get what you are seeking.

If it's only a couple of DCRs that should be selected manually, you could also use a Replicant Group (see docs) around the DCR Datum in order to let users select multiple files.

I did a search in this forum and managed to find a sample to use the filedal class for scanning a directory of DCRs, looks like I have to create a class file from to return the DCR data XML, I'm new to TeamSite as well, where do I get the Libraries(jar) to make the call.

How to deploy this to SitePublisher so that Content Centre Professional will understand my call to the external object in the content xml component section.

your code will go into the Livesite customer toolkit.

if you compile from here it will build the appropriate classpath.

I believe there may be instructions on how to setup eclipse as well
