Retrieving longid in do-sql deployment
bikerider
When deploying an SQL deployment using update, the SQL is not parsed to convert the long table names to the short names per the IWOV_IDMAPS table. To workaround this issue, ORACLE users can write an "EXECUTE IMMEDIATE" command. This is from the Interwoven engineer:
-------------------------------------
When you set type="update", with iwdd-op=do-sql and user-op parameters
set, user can execute *any* arbitrary sql statement. Since such a
statement could be very complex and arbitrary, we don't attempt to parse
it, substitute the longids with shortids.
However, it's not a bug. We just don't support idmapping substitution in
any arbitrary query that could be executed using the iwdd-op=do-sql
option.
It works for showview because we know the syntax of that select
statement and we could write a simple parser to do the substitution.
Writing a parser for all combinations of sql statements that could be
constructed isn't something possible, unless I am writing a database
server.
