Teamsite Log - Error in iwutild.log

Teamsite 6.7.1 SP1 - OD 6.2 - Win2k3 SP2

I noticed this afternoon in the iwutild.log file a new error that I have never seen and it is causing workflow jobs to hang:

[Wed Sep 10 14:10:59 2008] Error: CreateProcessAsUser failure user=CMH\dosborne; argcount=8; errCode=193;
[Wed Sep 10 14:13:03 2008] Error: CreateProcessAsUser failure user=EWR\aberman; argcount=26; errCode=193;

I did not post all of the gory error details on each line because of the length of the error message. Honest, I have not changed configuration on the Teamsite Server. I am working on some PTs in another branch but the Teamsite symptom is that workflow jobs are hanging.

This error is occuring for me (dosborne - a master user) and an editor user (aberman) in different branches. DEV NET does not give me any hits for 'CreateProcessAsUser' or errCode=193.

Has anyone seen this one before? Methinks I might need to reboot the box.

You are probably just hitting an exception while you are trying to Preview.. Try previewing your template again and see if you again get this error in the log

Of course it *never* has anything ot do with your current development. :-)

What are the impersonation settings in the iw.cfg ? Have those changed recently ? What *has* changed besides your PT ?

Honest, iw.cfg hasn't changed since July 08.

I have no impersonation setting in my iw.cfg.

Should I?

We are getting the error message in iwutild.log
Error: CreateProcessAsUser failure user=AM\username; argcount=10; errCode=2;
though this hasn't caused any problem. Not sure why this is coming regularly when the workflow is run.

Dave, if you believe this is not your PT work. Then probably you should first identify the source of this error. Its definitely some task which is owned by you either in your workflow or any other process in TS.

Identify the source of the error and let us know so we can help further.

First, page 58 of the Administration Guide indicates that external task impersonation can be set to run without impersonation. I have added the line disable_ext_task_impersonation=true to the authentication section of iw.cfg - I don't think this is the issue however, I like Andy's suggestion.

Second, I have rebooted the server.

I attempted to submit a file via workflow and this is the new error in iwutild.log:

[Wed Sep 10 15:13:58 2008] Error: CreateProcess failure user=CMH\dosborne; argcount=8; errCode=193; cmd=E:\Interwoven\TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl Y:\default\main\WorkFlowIPL\STAGING\NJ_Deploy.ipl Staging Blackberry_FAQ\Stage_BBFAQ Technology_Services\main\Blackberry_FAQ?successTransition=Flow6 69120 69129 \Technology_Services\main\Blackberry_FAQ\WORKAREA\Admin_wa BB_Contacts.htm

To give some quick background, we use the work flow modeler to summon a custom deployment task (NJ_Deploy.ipl) and this has been working flawlessly since we installed TS 6.7.1.

It appears Teamsite has picked up the iw.cfg change because the error changed from CreateProcessAsUser to CreateProcess - but I still have an error submitting via the workflow job.

The only other thing that happened to the box is there was a TrendMicro update last week - but the reboot happened today so I don't think it's that but I mention it here for information.

What happens if you tried to disable Trendmicro and run the workflow? Do you still get the same error messages?

check if you are able to run this command from command prompt -

E:\Interwoven\TeamSite/iw-perl/bin/iwperl Y:\default\main\WorkFlowIPL\STAGING\NJ_Deploy.ipl

If you get an access denied error, check your permissions on the ipl file

BTW - Best practice is not to have executable ipls in your Y drive..

Besides the "use of uninitialized variable" errors, no access denied errors.

I will open an issue w/Support and I appreciate everyone's responses.

For 671SP1 I believe you need to use

[authentication]
disable_ext_task_impersonation=true

I think it changed between 671 and 671SP1 or between 65 and 671

I wanted to make sure I closed this thread in case any one would come to this in the future. After spending some time with support, they discovered that the perl call in any Workflow task needs to be qualified in Windows. What this means is:

$IW_HOME/iw-perl/bin/iwperl $IW_HOME/local/config/wft/solutions/iw_solution_email.ipl -t "DeployProd"

is incorrect and the syntax (in Windows) should be:

$IW_HOME/iw-perl/bin/iwperl.exe $IW_HOME/local/config/wft/solutions/iw_solution_email.ipl -t "DeployProd"

Note the additional ".exe" to indicate an operating system executable.
Basically I used the OOTB examples and modified to my needs.

The error that appears in iwutild.log to give you a clue is:
CreateProcessAsUser (task_impersonation OFF in iw.cfg) or
CreateProcess (task_impersonation ON in iw.cfg)
