New Field on Existing DB table

I have added a new field to an existing table in our DB. I was successful got it on the DCR, transformed corrected into the deployment XML. I can see the correct value stored. Looks like everything is connected correctly except that my log files are showing a message I haven't seen before.

DBD: TTableSchemaHelper object for [PROPERTY_X_RICH_MEDIA] found in cache.
DBD: Column PHOTO_TITLE not found in array

Is there something else that needs to be done to get this message above to go away? Some kind of cache clearing? Right now some deployments aren't updating the DB but some of them have. PHOTO_TITLE is my new field. I'm just wondering if this could cause some of my deployments not to update or do I really need to worry about this error?

Hi Ruthie,

DBD: Column PHOTO_TITLE not found in array indicates that the above column ( PHOTO_TITLE ) is not physically present in the table.

At least there is no value entered for that column ,Since your deployment configuration indicates allow nulls = yes.

That makes sense but this field is the same as another field on the same table and I don't get that message for the existing field.

One of my problems is that after adding this new field that the deployment expects data in all the fields versus just one of them. It will delete the rows from the table rather than update the existing ones.

Hi,
Ideally , it should only pass the NULL value , and shouldn't delete the row.
Can you attach the specific deployment log to check.

im getting the same issue - **** OD - seems to be caching somewhere or something? the column definitely exists in the DB and in the template/configs

Can you check if you have any cache-db-connection=no/yes values set in the database.xml ?

no - i saw another thread w/ that setting but i did a search thru the DD documentation and dont see any examples of such a setting (cache-db-connection)

plz tell me this isnt another "undocumented feature"?

if so, is it as simple as

Yes...It will work...but you no need to bounce the OD server.
you need to just restart the services using iwodserverreset command.

You need to check with you column definitions used configuration file. Needs to remove the unnecessary one which are not there in tables.

I've a suspicion it is with the cached file as you first inferred.

DataDeploy used to be very memory and CPU hungry especially with complex replicants/containers in DCRs and if memory serves me right with older versions of DD you could generate real mapping files from the *_dd manually as a one-off hit via a command line. This may now be done automatically if so I suspect upon the first DD insert. So instead of reading the *_dd file datadeploy reads the pre-generated real cfg or cached file. An OD server restart may and in my opinion probably should not clear these files out the way but merely read them into memory.

It's been a while since I crossed swords with DD in anger so I could be barking up the wrong tree but I'd suggest looking in the file system for these cached file(s). If they exist I'd guess they are under ODHOME and should not be too hard to find.

Yes, we disabled the cache and recreated the tables cleanly and it was fine. the actual issue was we were deploying to an existing table, and ONE of the columns had a space in the columnname, which confused the heck outta DD.
i altered the column name to remove the trailing spaces, and all was well
