how to capture the path where files is placed after import to Teamsite

Hi Team,
I have a requirement to track import functionality of teamsite . At the click of import button want to capture the path along with filename where file has been imported from teamsite and placed.

Please help!

You need to go through UI Customization Guide.

You have to customize the Import button. For this you need to write custom action class for importing and keeping history of import.
First need to clarify, where you keep this history, i mean DB or file.
According to that you need to write action class. As per my understanding it will take lots of effort to achieve.

So, keep on going and share your experience.

Hi faizi, I'm new to teamsite. I'm not aware of the place where history file is kept on server. But I feel that import is just a call to Teamsite API to which we are not having access. Its just an abstraction, correct me if I'm wrong.

Mine main motive is to upload images from client machine in file browser functionality instaed of form Teamsite itself, and display the path on Template where file has been uploaded. For this I was thinking to make a call to teamsite import window, which I had been successful. But is not able to capture the path along with where file is placed to be displayed on template.

Could you guide an alternative I can use.

Are you talking about DCT (new form entry) browser button or TS screen's Import menu. According to your reply it seems you are talking about DCT.

So, Please clarify it.

Take a look at [post=103983]this[/post] post, it may help. Note that 'vpath' TS URL Command Parameter that I used
in this sample allows you to control Import Destination Path - you can import anywhere you have 'write' Access

Thanks a lot for the help . But inorder to capture VPATH we need to hardcode the path before hand in DCT where files will be placed in Teamsite.

I would like user to select a target where files are to be placed in Teamsite.
I mean that after opening import wizard, on click of import, I should be able to open a window where user can select target location on teamsite to place the file as well as this window should return the whole path along with filename imported back to DCT , to be diplayed on it.(In short customizing the import button)

Would greatly appreciate an insight into this matter!

I believe that in order to do what you want, at least currently, you would need to develop your own custom java application and then utilize the UICG customizations to insert your application in place of the OOTB application for the Import button.

You should probably also open a feature request with IWOV Support for this functionality so that it might, one day, make its way into the product.

As we can use iw.group.import parameter to open Import dialog box on any callout, but is their a way to capture the name of file import on click of import button taht appears in the import dialog box. Can heir_callback be used, I'm not able to use it. I'm attaching the java script file through which I'm opening the import window. Its working fine but is not able to call 'setSelectedPath' function called from 'heir_callback' parameter.

Please help, if we can any how track name of file being impoorted, it their is any call back from import button.
