Teamsite Templating Issue.

We have an existing instance of teamsite running on a Physical Box.We installed an other install of teamsite on the same physical box but both the IP's and the Host for the 2 different teamsite installs are different.

(In the case of the new install we did not do a new complete install but actually copied the original teamsite install(VMware Image) and moved it to the new location and generated a new licence on teamsite and applied it.

When we updated the templating.cfg file on the newly installed teamsite server the changes are not getting picked up from the main install.It still takes the changes from the old install only.

We updated the IP's and the host names through out the system but there is no change.

Can someone advice how this problem can be solved or do we need to do a complete install.

I do not believe that having 2 TS instances on a single physical server is supported. You could probably have 2 separate VMs with 2 COMPLETELY isolated TS instances on the same server.

What led you to this conclusion that it is still "tak(ing) the changes from the old install only"? I am interested in knowing that especially when you have 2 VMs that are completely isolated.

From the Templating.cfg file in the new instance I removed a datatype definition.

when I go to the corresponding Datatype within teamsirte and try to do a new form entry I should by default should get a failure error ("Saying cannot locate entry in templating.cfg file) but the blank form is displaying asking me to fill in the values.

I even did an iwreset -a after in updated the tempalting.cfg file but there is no change.

That's not a very compelling test. Perhaps you should add some new elements to your old templating.cfg and see if they show up in the other instance. That would be more of an indication of what you think you're seeing.

I agree with Dave that this does not seem to be a very conclusive test. I would recommend actually trying out with a new valid DCT entry (and having a valid corresponding DCT) in the templating.cfg on this instance only and see what you get.

tested it and trhere is no chnage.it still refers the templating.cfg from the other install.

Are you sure you're going to the new server when you type in the url for the new box?
Did you update all the configuration files to point to the new server name/ip address? (i.e. values in iw.cfg, etc)
You didn't rename template.cfg on the new box to something else(while keeping the old one named the same)?

If this a VM Server and you've created two Windows Server instances then there should be no way that your new "instance" would be able to even see the old template.cfg since it's exactly as if you would have two seperate server boxes. My guess is you're probably hitting the old server and not actually going to the new server in your browser. That's just my guess.

Did you change the entries in iw.cfg?

When you "copied" the original TS install what about services? Did you set up all the needed services manually?
