Generate jsp instead of shtml

How can I generate a jsp page instead of shtml pages, do i need to write a whole new .tpl file. what complexities one may face ?

You need write another tpl for it. And make sure entry for jsp template in templating.cfg

I have created a test template and put the entry for that template into the templating .cfg

It is as below- (homepage.tpl already existed, i created the test_template.tpl)

(I have removed "<" from the start of each line , as the tags r getting filtered out.)

If yes, then it should be generate the file.

You can generate jsp code same as html. Only different is, use jsp tag istead of html tag where you required it in tpl.
But for previewing jsp page you need to install a tomcat server (j2ee server) for it and mapping the Y drive to it.

Teamsite itself based on Tomcat server. But it wont recommend and support for external application. So you need to install new instance of Tomcat Server with changed port.
You may check this thread .

Y drive, basically content center directory in windows environment. So in which environment you are working?

A lot probably depends on how you coded the PT. Are you using:

My guess is that you're inserting your JSP directive in a manner which is not XML-compliant with regard to the rest of the PT and that you need to find some manner of encoding/entitizing/escaping the directive so as to not have that problem. If you search through the forums you may find various methods of doing this - alternatively, post your PT and maybe someone here will find time to look at it and see if they can spot the source of the problem ... and maybe a means of resolving it.

what is the cause of error? how does the xml(tpl file) recognize the jsp statements and execute them at compilation.

The Latest post of your thread not showing in Mozilla (i am using) after your 09-18-2008 01:13 PM posting. But when i open it in IE it looks fine now but still that posting has problem. So if you can edit it then remove codes from that posting.

For JSP code put your scriptlets within CDATA tag.

Have you installed Tomcat and mapped your iwmount within server.xml or check this link for mapping.

Another approch is using workflow. Create a workflow which generate jsp file using tpl and then deploy it to tomcat/webapps folder where you can check jsp preview.

I dont have much rights to the server where teamsite resides., i would'nt be able to install tomcat.

The second approach is what i should go for.

can you tell , do i need to create a whole new workflow for generating jsp ?

You should see the JSP statement, not it's output, in the generated file. You should see the output of the JSP statement when you render the generated file on a webserver that supports JSP.
