Programmatic Disabling of Form Field Validation?

Hi all--

I've got a DCT with validations (required, maxlength, regexes, etc) explicitly declared in my XML. The DCT fields are separated into two different containers, one of which is always hidden per form requirements. Using a radio button, the user toggles which container is hidden.

When a container is hidden, I'd like to programmatically disable all of the declared validations so that on form save the user does not receive any validation error messages for the hidden fields. Is this possible? I am aware of the FormAPI calls to setRequired, setRegex etc, but is there a function to disable the maxLength validation as well? A general "disable-validation-for-all-fields-in-this-container" function would be what I'd need.

I do not believe there is a "blanket" disabling of kind that you are looking. You'll have to do it for each item via FormAPI.

Thanks for the reply, vpatel. Would I be able to disable validation declarations such as "size" and "maxlength" via FormAPI as well?

EDIT: Looks like the Javascript RegEx object doesn't provide much help regarding matching length requirements, so IWItem.setRegex provides no help here. :-(

From the FormAPI issue IWItem.setValid (true);

As stated in the manual, "A true argument overrides results of standard validity tests"
