Interesting marriage. Looks like the roadmap will be taking a major new direction to integrate TeamSite & IDOL. I wonder what current offerings will bite the dust or whither on the vine.

I was watching the webcast that Autonomy did this morning about the acquisition and it mainly looks like a lot of "syngergy" with WorkSite. TS, MB, LS, SP and others will get enhanced by Autonomy technology. TS already uses Verity which is part of Autonomy. MT/CI/CIM looks like the one to get out as Autonomy is well ahead on that.

Perhaps not much will change this quarter but, according to Autonomy:

"The combination of Autonomy's Meaning Based Computing technologies (IDOL) (with its ability to understand content) with Interwoven's suite of products (focussed on managing the interactions of people and content) will create a new set of technologies, updating and enhancing Interwoven's products by significantly reducing the levels of manual effort now required."

This suggests a major reworking of of the product line is in the making.

Lets separate the chaff from the wheat.

An integration of TS with IDOL framework does not look seamless. Its not going to be smooth. Autonomy is apparently also not known for integrating its acquired products well..

time will tell?

The acquisition does not sound like it was for technological reasons

I think the question to ask is "How long TeamSite will be around after Autonomy finishes the acquisition?" because almost everything I've read suggests that Autonomy doesn't care at all about content management -- versus document management -- and their track record does not suggest that they will expend much energy, if any, to integrate it into an expanded product line.

Are any folks working at Interwoven partners reading this? I'd be very curious to learn how they feel about the acquisition and the future of TeamSite.

After the support site revemap methodolgy/approach, I am very much concerned on Autonomy stategies over Teamsite product. I am not sure where the existing Teamsite developers and Teamsite client's are heading on to?
It is totally unclear at this stage and is full of confusions.

What change on the restructured IWOV support site you didn't like? Things are structured differently, however, everything seems to be available (from what I see).

They're missing a few thousand documents on customers.autonomy.com and I suspect all of the KB articles from interwoven are not in autonomy' kb. Of the less than currently 6651 Interwoven documents in autonomy's KB many of them are the same exact article with the only difference being the version i.e. in the red box at the top "Version: 6.1.1. Solaris" and "Version: 6.1.1 Windows" but the text in the document is exactly the same. Not to mention the documents are in a format that makes them a bit harder to read. Autonomy's categorization of Interwoven content is poor at best which considering they're supposedly a leading search company you'd think they'd get their search support working in a manner that would make things easy to find.

They also have an incomplete list of products in their case system for interwoven. Go check it out, as of this post they have Admin, AIX, Analytics, Client, Core, DEV, GCM, HP-UX, Linux RedHat, LiveSite, MediaBin, MISC, MP, NT, Oracle, Repository, RM, Solaris, UNDECIDED, and Windows as products of Interwoven. Which one am I suppose to choose for TeamSite? I've notified Autonomy support of this issue so hopefully it gets changed quickly. Also they asked me when I notified them of the issue if LiveSite and TeamSite were equivalent. First, why would you ask the customer that and second, why wouldn't you ask in house first.

Anyway, it's a complete mess and I'm just glad they haven't touch DevNet yet other than the logo change. Although it'd be nice if the KB article links in DevNet actually worked.
