Question on user / group migration in teamsite 6.7.2 SP1

Hi,

In my current iw-store (teamsite 6.5.2), if a user belongs to the group X (actual name of the group is lda_teamsite_public_authors), he is allowed to access any content in teamsite.

Now, after migrating to 6.7.2, I am facing some issues in terms of user access. I have run iwusermigrate and that has created iweveryone group with all users and has also created the tsusers.xml file.

What I am wondering is, instead of running iwaccessmigrate, what If I just add the group X with author role at the iw-store level and then inherit the permissions in all the branches? Will this work?

I believe you would have to add it to the /default/main level - not the store (default) level - and yes, if you enable inheritance all the way up it would work - but this is trickier than it sounds - because you need to deal with both role-inheritance and access-inheritance.

The first is trivial, the second is a royal-pain-in-the-**** (I wrote a script to fix every single file and directory in every single workarea - it's a slow process that results in all files being listed as modified). As others reported, and I found out myself - upgrading from a previous release to 672SP1 has some issues with access migration (or so it seems - perhaps I did something wrong)

In general, I suggest you take things one step at a time and figure out what should be - before you make changes to what is.
