restrcting DCT item based on group

I am trying to restrict a DCT field based on a teamsite group. But unfortunately it isn't restricting as expected.
Could anyone shed light on this?

If you are trying to limit it by a TS group then I think you should have something like this (see below), right?

oops..
I posted my workaround stuff..
Initial I tried with groupname but it didn't work out, so modified with user attribute. Still the changes aren't refelcting.
any clue?

<allowed> element is not a accepted sub element for ITEM element. We can use <allowed> element only with following elements,

<browser>
<checkbox>
<hidden>
<radio>
<readonly>
<select>
<text>
<textarea>

Example:

<item name="Section Name">

<allowed> <cred group="groupname"/> </allowed> </textarea>

I was placing the check in item level.... Now it is working..

On top of this.. i tried to save the DCR for whom it is restricted. On click on save button, all my save,save as, preview buttons getting disappeared..
could you please let me know what exactly is going wrong?

Check out the

templating.cfg

file where you declared the data type (DCT).
Is there below tag available:
[HTML][/HTML]
Remove this tag. Check the DCT again. Now save,save as, preview, generate buttons will appear. This is the default behavior. If you want custom behavior then add the

viewoptions

tag and define actions in

actionlist

attribute.
Like:

actionlist="save, save as"

I am able to see "save,save as, preview,settings,generate" button on form load.. when I click on save button (or any button), they get diappeared.. this was working before implemnting restriction rule...

Is it working after removing the restriction rule?

If possible attach the DCT file, so we can check where is the fault.

If you get any sort of error when trying to save the DCR, the UI tends to only show a Help link and not any of the ViewOptions links. You need to refresh or close/reopen the Edit DCR window.
The trick is to figure out the source of the initial error - and fix it.

Hi Ghoti,
You are correct.
I doubt on formapi which may be culprit for the scenario.
Tomorrow I am planning to remove all the formapi I have for that DCT and try "save" operation.
Will post you the result on the same.
