Vignette 7.6 - Programattically create component and associate to a region on a page

I need to figure out what API's to use in order to accompish the following:

a. Programattically create Content Select Component and associate a Content Item to it.
b. Associate this Content Select Component to a particular region on a page.

Couldn't find this information anywhere and support is unable to answer as well. Would greatly appreciate any assistance.

I've done this in the past on v8 by creating a page manually -then cloning that page for other instances.  In the javadocs look for

ContentInstancePage 

ContentType 

Region 

ContentComponent
