Copying folders through workflow

Hi,

I want to copy folder/subfolders including files from one location to another location.I tried will all possible commands - xcopy, iwcp, copy etc., but facing different issues.iwcp copies only files not folder.

xcopy works fine in cmd and separate perl file
but when I call this ipl from workflow , it didn't work.

my $folder_copy_cmd = "xcopy sourcefolder targetfolder /S /E /C /R /H /I /K /Y";
my $result =`$folder_copy_cmd`;

what do you mean by one location to another. One workarea to another?

It is likely a problem with your perl script them. Post the exact code you are using and someone might be able to point out what is amiss.

Also, are you logging the output of the command?

Do you need to do this from command line? If you can do it through the GUI - it's pretty easy - select the directory you want to copy and then do Edit > Copy and browse or type in the directory path where you want to copy the entire directory into (relative to the root of the workarea, starting with '/')

I have done same thing for my client using a WF.This WorkFlow simply copies the selected folder/files from one Branch/WorkArea to other.

To achieve this i have used an URLExternal Task,which called-up a custom "JAVA CODE",the code simply get the attached files and targeted path ,uses CLT--IWUPDATE.EXE to copy the items.

If you are an JAVA DEVELOPER,then you can achieve it easily but for perl i am not so helpfull to you.

Refer to CLT Manual "iwupdate.exe",there it has been mentioned.

iwupdate, as mentioned in other posts, might help, but only if you want to replicate folder/file structure from one area to another. xcopy *should* work (at least it always worked with me).

most likely your external task does not pick up the environment? try setting the full path for xcopy and see if this will work.
