Questions on WEM 8.5 and Solr

After reading through the WEM 8.5 Planning and Installation Guide, it appears that Apache Solr can be used for search on both management and delivery stages. I believe a separate installation of Solr is needed for each stage. Could someone confirm?

Second, is any configuration needed for indexing of content (beyond the search engine configuration of Application Services in the Config Console)? I don't see any documentation about indexing WEM content in Solr.

Yes, that is correct. You can install two seperate instances of Solr or use two seperate cores in the same instance (depending on architecture and other requirements).

The configuration is done using the Configure Search Engine "wizard" (menu on Application Services for each stage). You will also need to obtain the default Solr configuration available after installation (in C:\OpenText\Content\8_5\adm\search\solr).

Here's a simple tutorial on getting Solr configured: (username: vps, password: opentext1).

You'll also see that Solr4 is supported in SP1 (through InfoFusion installation).
