How to set a value from preprocessor to Global variable..?

Hi all,

I am using a preprocessor, whereas I need to set the value returned from this preprocessor to a global variable (Configurable variable). Is it possible...?

Why I need this because, after setting it to a configurable variable I can easily map it to an item in the custom_instantiation.cfg file. Based on the value returned I will do some validations in the job_init form. Say will through some alert to the user.

In Shot : I need to set a value returned from a preprocessor to an item in the custom_instantiation.cfg.

Note : Not to a job variable.

Can anyone suggest me...? Alternate approaches are also welcome.

This thread will be helpful to your requirement.

You cannot remove a CV, DS, or SCRIPT variable using workflow APIs within a PreProcessor or PostProcessor. Workflow APIs only support removing simple text values and not variables.

But I need to display an error message on the Job Initiation Screen.

Tried, IWDatacapture.displayMessage("Validating...");

But doesn't work

Any other alternative?

Hi raghu,

Initially create one global variable and local variable, assign the ID of that local variable to the global variable. Assign dummy value to the local variable. Based on the values displayed in the job init form, fetch the selected value and over write the existing value for that local variable using setvariable method.
In turn this local variable's value will be mapped with the global variable, and accessible throughout the job.
