Form Settings dialog

When the user clicks on GENERATE button the Form Settings Dialog box opens. Is there a way to change the default folder in which the dialog box opens. I do not want the user to save the generated file in template data.

Have you tried to write some code based on what you [should have] read in the manual?
If so - and it's not working, post the code (suitably formatted - remember to use Preview Post) and explain, in detail, what you want and what you're getting - and then it will be easier for someone here to assist you.

When i browse it , i am taken to the workarea location which contains two folders say "folder1, folder2". Now i want to customise this ceiling path which is currently going to the workarea.I want to customise the path to go to "folder2" location on clicking browse button.

I tried doing this by using IWPageGeneration.setOutputFile() inside my js.

Can you please gude me whether i'm doing the right thing.

Okay - I think either Nipper misunderstood your request or you misunderstood his response. I don't believe anything currently allows you to alter the default location where that dialog box starts with. The ceiling dir setting in the templating.cfg file is used for validation not defaulting.
The FormAPI functionality allows you to handle all the naming and locating programmatically so that the user never sees the dialog box - but this requires having sufficient information (usually within the DCT) to allow you to do the naming and locating fully programmatically.
So - you either live with training the users to navigate to one of the folders before continuing the generate process, or you do some programming to remove the need for them ever to have to do so (I prefer the latter, as I think it's better all around if the users don't have to make choices in such maters).

Yea, Ghoti has expressed my opinion as well. Use formapi to set the folder and output name, not just the folder. You can, however, file a FR with IWOV support to add initial dir as a formapi option.

As a general rule I never allow a user to define the filename, I always calculate it from the DCR name (this makes the auto generation of links to the page *much* easier). As well, I seldom allow a user to name the DCR, prefering to calculate that (when I can).
