how to divide template in two vertical sections ??

spayal

In a DCT, I have five fields each for English and Spanish. I want to make left half of the template as English and right half as Spanish. How to divide the template vertically ?

In datacapture.cfg, there is an item which has hidden subelement. In the template, (which I get when try to create new entry form), how to check this hidden item ?

Sorry, I just modified my post

thanks

What you want to check from it? You want to check if that "item" exists? Or if htat item has an image path or something? You can use FormAPI to do either.

Yes, I want to check whether that item exists. This template is designed by someone else. On the template, there is nothing that indicates that this item exists. how to use it ?

Just to be clear: you want to check if that item exists or not programatically, right? If yes, then use FormAPI to get that item and then see if you get a valid item or some null value. If you get null (or equivalent) then that item doesn't exist.

I don't think this is the case but: if you are talking about visually checking that field when you pull up the DCT in a browser then that defeats the whole purpose of it being "hidden" :-)!

Thanks. I can work on this.

I don't think there is a clean way of dividing your template vertically / side-by-side.

You could get a little creative and do one of the following:
1. use row-continue option to get the effects that you are after.
2. use tabs at the top.

In either case, usually there are more reasons to have separate DCRs -- perhaps just by different file names (i.e. dcr-en.xml vs dcr-es.xml) or perhaps by different directory structure -- per language than to have a single DCR that encapsulates all languages. My $0.02!

Why don't you ask the person who developed the template?
