Unable to approve the task from the task inbox in content workspace 8.5sp1

I have a simple approval workflow with two manual activities. First acitivity will assign the content to approver1 and second acivity will assign the content to approver2.Once the workflow is initited approver1 gets the payload in his taskinbox.After clicking on accept and approve ideally the payload has to move to the next activity i.e)approver2 task inbox.But this is not happening and it will still remain in the approver1 taskinbox.

We recently upgraded from 8.1 to 8.5SP1. Task inbox is not working for us in deployment and approval workflow for approval processes.

I found if we click on submit button in workflow console for the first activity then the acivity is getting completed and triggering next activity.

Can some one help us in understand and fix the above issue.

When you click the approve button and you approve assets in the payload the task is not finished. You need to explicitly finish the current task to move to the next step.

This is by design.

All workflows were working fine in 8.1 version classic console (Task inbox and task editor). But after upgrade we are facing issue in manual activity approvals in content workspace.

Do we need to make any change in workflow for them to work?

I am not able to find any document which provide more details about this, please help

What happens is this:

the new task editor in the workspaces has an “Approve” button in the paylod list. This button approves the selected payload items and it is there for any manual activity. If it happens that your manual activity is actually there to “approve” items in the payload, this has nothing to do with the approve button. As I said, the approve button approves items but doesn’t finish the current activity.

I understand that this is source of confusion. Anyway, if you don’t like it you can try to make it hidden so that approval of payload items happens as a result of the completion of the manual activity only and therefore, after approval, the workflow will move to the next step

We are able to proceed to next activity when we click on finish button.

Here is the actual use case:

We have scenerio to have 3 manual activites.I want to use split functionality based on approver 1 decision .if approver 1 approves then task then the task has to move to approver 2 and if he rejects it has to go to approver 3.

We have used custom task editor URI to acheive this functionality in 8.1 with an overrided jsp "/task/editor/reviewMultipleItems?booleanOutput=ApproverDecision" and it was working fine.After upgrade to 8.5 we are not able to get the booleanOutput variable.

Can you please let us know how to acheive this in 8.5.
