Exception in Primitive {EA3C32E4}

I'm using the following from the API.

RetrieveFile( Path as String, Task as MBRunTask, JobPriority as MBJobPriority
[optional, default(NormalPriorityJob)] )

Implemented as

asset.RetrieveFile(fullPath, g_DownloadTask.CreateRunTask, JOBPRIORITY_LOW)

This task is taking a tiff and producing a smaller jpg.

And I'm getting the following error.
Exception in Primitive {EA3C32E4}! Reason = Could not open file, Message = Tiff Encoder
TIFF Warning: 16 bit file being truncated to 8 bits.

This task operates using the client but not the api.

Additionally, the image's metadata shows the image as having a Bit Depth = 8 , not 16.

Any ideas what is causing this?

MediaBin has limited support for 16-bit files. You can preview them and get them out in their original form, but any repurposing converts the file to 8 bits (e.g., Tif --> JPEG conversion).

The bit depth for a 16-bit file displays as 8 bit. This is a known issue and will be addressed at some point as a patch. The issue was a debate over whether to display the original or what one would get if one attempted to repurpose the asset.

So the warning and the resolution are understandable. However, your message implied a fatal error on insertion. That is not explainable and you should work with support to get us a copy of the problematic file.

I am getting the same error when trying to fetch many tiffs. The strange thing is that using the same task and file from the windows client works perfectly. Seems like a bug.

Sorry I should have read the rest of the error. The warning is benign but the "Unexpected Exception" is not. Please provide support with the files in question.

Thanks, I just opened a case.
