sorting search results

Hi !!

I have a requirement to search for the last x number of most recent emails on a workspace.
Is there any way via the SDK to fetch the last x number of most recent used documents, i know that by default the sort is by createdate, from earliest to latest and that sortobject can be used to sort the collection as required. (am aware of the sort mask on the server as well but that wouldnt help in this case...would it)

But i beleive emails have a different field to be looked at viz custom21(CDATE1) & Custom22(CDATE2) as the createdate would be when the email has been filed into DMS and not the sent or received...
how do i get the search to do the sort on sql rather than us implementing the Sort object on the Whole collection as the number of returned IManDocument objects will be in thousands.
I guess like a Select TOP 20 sql kinda query.

Using the API's, I would try setting the MaxRowsForSearch(Session) Property to a number that works for you. Then, search by the custom21/22 dates.
