what is the impact of hideNavigation() with respect to Permissions?

what is the impact hideNavigation() with respect to Permissions like if we have this function enabled will the setReadOnly(true) will work properly?

I am facing an issue like even though "KEY" field is set to readOnly it is not showing readonly it is allowing us to edit that field.

Can you please suggest us on this?
