IFS or Y Drive Issues

I am working on upgrading our Teamsite 6.5 SP2 installation to Teamsite 6.7x. In order to test the process, I wanted to create a VM instance of our existing server, validate the update process and then run it on the production server.

I haven't been able to get started. The VMWare instance was restored from tape backups of the hard drives. The Y drive was created but it is missing the user-created development area. This implies that all the workareas and staging area are missing.

Any suggestions on how I can achieve what I am trying to do?
