Probem with external task in WFM 1.0.0.1

I am trying to run an external task that executes a perl script which has ssh command as below

my $cmdForClusterList = "/usr/bin/ssh -l weblogic -q" . " " . "\'ls -1 2>/dev/null\'";

my @RunningInst = `$cmdForClusterList 2>&1`;

When it encounters the ssh execution line it gets stuck and doen't proceed. The perl command configured in the command attribute of external task is "/apps/Interwoven/ControlHub/iw-perl/bin/iwperl /apps/Interwoven/ControlHub/custom/bin/qfTesting.ipl". I have already configured ssh key for the external task owner configured in the server, so there is no password issues. This command works fine in the command line and it doesn't work if i run in CH.
System:
OS: Solaris 10
CH: 3.0.0 WFM 1.0.0.1

Any help in this regard is appreciable
