I am getting Error length required error while I am importing a file into TeamSite

Hi,

I am getting Error length required error while I am importing a file into TeamSite 6.7.2

Also my OS is XP & IE 7.

The actual error message reads

Error importing file c:/Web/something.doc
Error Length Required connecting to 'http://myserver.com/iw-cc/launchpad/import_check_for_overwrite'
********************************************************

What's the size of c:/web/something.doc?

Also, is there any error in iwtrace.log or servletd_out.log?

Any document of any size is not getting uploaded

We are not writing these logs I guess these have been disabled by our admin..

Error 411 "Length Required" occurs when Server receives POST request but 'CONTENT_LENGTH' Environment variable is zero.
It almost always means that your Client Application tried to *post* an empty Form.

Standard IWOV Import Widget is a Java Applet, it should not use POST. So - what are you using for Import?
If it's out of the box IWOV Import, contact Support. You may have incorrect Java version on the Client (Browser)
side, etc... If it's not IWOV Import Widget, what is it?

One of my content authors is getting the same error after our recent upgrade to 6.7.2SP1. He's the only one of our users, however, who's incurring it. He's using a virtualized instance of Windows on a Mac, but he's always done that without incident prior to our Teamsite upgrade.

I had him go to "http://www.javatester.org/version.html" with his browser (IE7), and it reports java 1.6.0_14.

This thread had no followup with root cause. I'm wondering if anyone else has incurred this problem and solved it?

I can try to recreate this later this week - I have 672SP1 running on W2K3SP2 via Parallels on my MacBookPro. The more details you can provide about what actions are being attempted and what you are / are not seeing, the better chance I have of being able to provide a second data-point.

This error is typically due to one of -
a) IE not hooking to the right (or no) JVM on client machine,
b) Browser security settings / proxy settings
c) vpn
d) connection timeout to server

You can run a network trace and see if it helps.

and oh, I have been using 672 sp1 for quite sometime on various boxes and do not see this problem.

Thanks very much for the knowledge, fish and ccpro. The user had a combination of IE7 and java 1.6. Having him revert to 1.5 java solved the problem.

We've recently upgraded TeamSite to 672 SP1 and one of our user is getting the same error while importing any files into workarea.

\docs\file.xml to TeamSite server
Error length required connecting to http://server/iw-cc/launchpad/import_check_for_overwrite

TeamSite: 672 SP1 (running on Solaris 10)
User's browser: IE6
JRE version: 1.5.0_14

The user deleted the launchpad folder in C:\IWTemp and tried importing files, but still getting same error.

I'm seeing the following error in error.log:

[Wed Aug 12 16:00:35 2009] [error] [client 3.235.161.110] File does not exist: /iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center/teamsite/launchpad/com
[Wed Aug 12 16:00:05 2009] [error] [client 3.235.161.110] File does not exist: /iw-home/httpd/webapps/content_center/teamsite/launchpad/symantec

I checked our other TeamSite servers running on 671, but I didn't find these com and symantec folders. Does these folders come with default TeamSite installation?
