Teamsite plugin for Eclipse

Hello,

I have an architecture question.

We have an 'e-business unit' (non-developers) that creates templated content for our web app - using Teamsite. The Java codebase for the webapp resides in cvs. And, developers use Eclipse IDE for Java development.

My concern is - we are maintaining repositories at two different places: cvs and teamsite. I was thinking whether we could bypass cvs,...meaning move all of our codebase to Teamsite repository only? And use Eclipse with Teamsite for code checkout and commits.

Questions:
1. Is it possible to do so?
2. If yes, then how can we do this?
3. Do we have any eclipse Teamsite plugin for eclipse?

Hi Piyush,
It is not possible to use TS as repositories for the out site development, and there is no such plugin for using TS from outside application.
But if you want to use TS for Java codebase repositories then you have to follow as the Content creation and submit process, that will be manual.

I was looking on eclipse website for any Teamsite plugin, and this is what i found. Please go to http://www.eclipse.org/community/team.php, and search for Teamsite on the page.

So, as per your reply, ...essentially - we would have to maintain two different repositories always. One for content generated on TS and other would be Java codebase in cvs/ svn (..as the case may be !). Correct?

I don't have an issue with that. However, the reason i started looking into this is bacause of the issue described below:

To push any content changes (...on jsp, html etc.) our team uses Teamsite, even though it was never generated within TS. This is the quickest way to get around for them - to respond to any production change requests. Since, these changes do not require any project builds. However, this creates a version discrepancy on the what lies in cvs and what just changed in TS. The person has to go and update the cvs version too to avoid any discrepancy.

To further complicate this issue, if we do any newer builds - due to Java code changes - the process grabs src from cvs and overwrites anything that is in TS and builds the project. This means if anyone was inbetween doing content jsp changes related to some Production change request - all those changes get overwritten by what's in CVS.

So having a provision for one single repository would have been perfect.

Any thoughts?

If I understand correctly, you are looking for a way to sync'up the CVS repository with the changes in Teamsite. In this case you can automate the submission of the files to CVS. CVS has command line tools that you should be able to use on onsubmit event or something like that.

No,you can not bypass cvs and maintain your repository on TS using eclipse.What you can do is ? ,as Faizi told "you can use eclipse for your java code base."
No,we don't have any eclipse plugin for Teamsite.

Rather than responding to a 4-year old post in which your issue may have little to do with the original thread - I suggest you start a new thread, with details of what exactly you are trying to do, how you're trying to do it, and what issues you are running into.
