Columns disappeared from Filesite
System
One of the users Filesite, the columns in the document grid had all disappeared except for the Icon and Flag Status columns. The user had previously been using Filesite own computer but this was the first time he had tried to access Filesite after logging into another computer.
A second symptom is when you go to try to add the columns manually to the view; the field chooser does not show any available Worksite columns.
We tried closing Outlook, logging off, removing the Filesite data file and re-adding and then repairing Filesite but none of these resolved the issue.
Uninstalling Filesite completely and reinstalling mostly resolved the issue, except for the one folder that she had originally accessed and noted the issue. This folder had to be manually rebuilt.
Similarly to above, this was while trying to use Filesite from a login other than the one that Filesite was installed under.
I was able to recreate this issue doing the following:
- logon to computer as local administrator and install Filesite
- log off and log back in as user who has not used Filesite before
- setup access to Filesite, everything looks fine
- log the user off
- log this user on at another computer that has already had Filesite installed
- go to a Filesite folder and note there are only the two columns shown...
This is obviously a bit of a concern if some settings are only applied to the logged in user when installing the product and are not kept in the roaming profile…
Grateful if you could see if this is a known issue and what might cause this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
please try below steps
• Launch MS Outlook and expand the FileSite Neighborhood option.
• Right click anywhere in the Outlook Menu bar and make sure that the Advanced option has a check mark beside it (if it does not, then click Advanced so that it does have a checkmark).
• Highlight the WorkSite server name under the FileSite Neighborhood option and in the Outlook Menu go to View > Current View > Customize Current View. The View Summary dialog box is displayed. Click the Fields... button. The Show Fields dialog is displayed.
• In the Select available fields from: pulldown box, the default Frequently-used fields appears. Scroll down and select the WorkSite fields () option. You will see various choices available in the Available Fields selection box. Select the field that you require and drag it to the Show these fields in this order: box (or click Add) to add that field to your MS Outlook column view. You can also remove fields with the Remove button. When you have done this for all desired fields, click OK to exit the dialogs.
• To save these modifications, highlight the WorkSite server name under the FileSite Neighborhood option and go to View > Current View to switch the check mark from FileSite Default View to Messages, and then change it back to the FileSite Default View. This step is necessary to save the changes made to the NRTView.vdm file.
• Close MS Oulook and then perform a search on the file Views.vdm and delete it from your machine. The Views.vdm file is located in C:\Documents and Settings\
\Application Data\iOutlook.
Once this setting has been configured in a single computer, the same changes could be applied in the other computers by following the steps below.
• Copy the NRTView.vdm from the machine on which you have performed the above steps and replace the existing NRTView.vdm file on the other machine with it.
• Delete the Views.vdm file from the workstations that you are applying these customized views to. This would be available in C:\Documents and Settings\
\Application Data\iOutlook folder
• Go to Start > Run and run the following command: “outlook /cleanview“
Thanks

Thanks for your reply.
I understand what you've suggested below but I'm afraid it does not work as when you go into the Show Fields dialog and select Worksite fields, there are no fields available in the list to add (or remove for that matter). I'm assuming some DLL is not being loaded properly by Outlook but can't see anything in the disabled addins, etc...
The above is the same behaviour as if you right-click on the column header in the document grid and select the Field Chooser. While you can change from Frequently-Used Fields to Worksite fields, there are no fields within the Worksite group to be able to select.
Again today, I had to uninstall and reinstall Filesite to resolve the issue and would really appreciate finding a better solution or preventing it from happening altogether.
Cheers

Not a new issue I'm afraid. Interwoven Support website has a casenote on this issue of corrupt filesite views [casenote: 00750705]
Here is the solution they propose which I have simply pasted (in case you don't have access to the support website:
http://worksitesupport.interwoven.com
)
In the firm's I've worked in, we have had to write a script that does all these steps programatically for the users. They all are trained to run the "Fix my FileSite" script when they get this issue. My gut feeling is its often outcmd.dat file that is the offending one.
FYI - deleting outcmd.dat (step 4) means they loose their Outlook toolbar customisations - if they had any. Makes users cranky.
Deleting the FileSite views (step 5) means they'll loose their FileSite views and any customisations they/you might have had - maybe you have some firm standards to redistribute or they'll get the default ones.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Remove the FileSite data file from Outlook and open Outlook once without it.
2. Delete C:\Documents and Settings\%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\extend.dat.
3. Delete C:\Documents and Settings\%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\FORMS\FRMCACHE.dat.
4. Delete C:\Documents and Settings\%userprofile%\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\outcmd.dat.
5. Delete C:\Documents and Settings\%userprofile%\Application Data\iOutlook\...
- NRTEmailView.vdm
- NRTView.vdm
- NRTWorklistView.vdm
- Rules.vdm
- Views.vdm
6. Delete or rename the following key:
FileSite [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Interwoven\WorkSite\8.0\FileSite]
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Obviously then you can add back the data file using the "addiman..." command and re-open Outlook.
