What is IWServer ?

1 ) On my local machine, I m trying to map a network drive(IWServer). But I can not see those options of servers (I can see some options which I dont even know). Some of the drives of these server which I want to connect to are already mapped on my local m/a. does it priovide any clue ? If I want map IWServer which is on a server machine, how to do that ?

2) One of the developer has asked me a question that he can not see IWServer on one of the servers and he is suggesting to map network drive. I can map network drive for my local m/c (which even Im unable to do). How can I map network drive for him ?

3) I logged on the server and connected to the local m/c from the server. Then I tried to map network drive on the local m/c. I could see all the options of the network drives (IWServer) on servers that I want to map to. I mapped a network drive from the my computer screen of local comp on server . Now when I logged out of the server and checked on the local m/c , that mapped network drive is not there. So what happend here ?
Again I logged on the server and I can see mapped network drive here. So whats the point in mapping a drive on the server which I am already logged on to ? (I can see Y: drive on the server and I have mapped to IWServer, which has same contents as Y: drive on the same server)

Pls explain.

I dont think, I really understand your questions. But to answer your first question check TS installation guide 6.5, page 73.
IWServer is a server process of Teamsite running on the machine hosting TS.

Are you talking about the IWSERVER samba / network share? As in

\\ts-server-hostname\IWSERVER

Actually IWServer is Y:\ Drive. Whenever you installed TS it build a virtual drive as Y:\ drive as TeamSite Content Server, that is shared directory. It is shared by everyone and its share name is IWServer.
So when you have to access it from local machine you need to map it (IWServer) with your machine.

From your client machine - just do it - don't try to browse for it - just type in \\hostname\IWSERVER for the URI - it should work.

Is the \\hostname\IWServer not working for one developer or all? Is it working for you?
Do you see iwserver on your server in the running processes? If its not running, is TS running?

1) \\hostname\IWServer is working fine for me.

2) I guess it is not working for a bunch of developers, I am not sure how many, all or few. The message from a user is "cant map to IWServer directory. It doesnt seem to be available".

What do you see when you use \\hostname\IWServer ? I would say, re-read earlier posts in this thread, it would make you more clear about IWServer.

There is nothing called IWServer directory as you couldn't found it, may be some suitable terminology could be used here. I leave it on you to figure out, how Smiley Wink
