Delete Files from staging

I have deleted files from WORKAREA and want to delete the same using iwsubmit command.

\>iwsubmit.exe -x -u Y:/default/WORKAREA/templat
edata/ContentType/Article/data/en/VFF_Test1 "test";
I got the following error
ERROR:02006: Error locating Y:/default/WORKAREA/tem
platedata/ContentType/Article/data/en/VFF_Test1

VFF_Test1 had been deleted from workarea.
Tell me the correct way to use iwsubmit command.
is there any other command to delete file from stagging?

It is seems problem with clt iwsubmit when submitting deleted files.
So, you can do that using OOTB Submit Workflow this works fine.

It might help if you used a real vpath - i.e. one that does not start with Y: and that is valid - the path you show in your post is clearly wrong - there is no branch name or workarea name specified.

So, you can do that using OOTB Submit Workflow this works fine.

Does the OOTB Submit Workflow use some different mechanism to submit?

Workflows use the submittask rather than a clt to submit so yes it is different. Now there are always exceptions to the rule, I have seen some truly boneheaded workflows that run iwsubmit from an externaltask.

I just found a solution to this in the Interwoven support and so thought of adding it to the appropriate thread for future reference.
A file can be submitted from the Staging Area using the iwsubmit CLT.

Below is the Article corresponding to the solution:

Type: Tech Note
Synopsis
To delete files in the staging area from the command line, use the vpath, not the file system path

Details
To delete files from the staging area using command line tools, what would be intuitive, ie iwsubmit -w Y:\default\main\branch\WORKAREA\waname\file does not work. The only way to do it is to type: iwsubmit -w \default\main\branch\WORKAREA\waname\file

I have tried this and it works :-)

Both your post and the article you quote are poorly worded.
To begin with (as I posted over a year ago, and if you read the CLT manual or the output of iwsubmit -h) the iwsubmit CLT expects a vpath and not a file system path - why someone thought this was a revelation that required a KB article is beyond me, but ....

Again, the above contains misinformation - you are not deleting files from the staging area - you are deleting files from a workarea and then submitting the deletions to the staging areaThe difference may be subtle, but it is (IMO) important.
