Snippets support in WEM's EPhox or TinyMCE?

We are trying to move our client from RoboHelp to OpenText WEM platform. They are actively using HTML snippets (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS363D975C-D8A8-4bec-A973-21CC7EC4FC9F.html#WS9ABFDD3B-BB80-4f1a-BE4D-EC3F6EC033E6).

Here is a high-level requirement:
The “Snippets” - separately stored pieces of text (like sentences, words, etc…) need to be stored, secured and then inserted into EPhox area.
There they should not be editable. Once snippet is updated outside of EPhox the change needs to be reflected in all content instances it is used in (inside EPhox).

We are wondering if such a functionality exists in WEM's editors (like EPhox, TinyMCE, etc...)?

Any pointers would be highly appreciated!

Hi Vlad,

I noticed your post and thought about it. I think you have a couple options.

1. You can customize the edit live interface and add things like buttons, the file to check out is vign-elj-config.xml. I've added/ removed buttons by changing that file. But it's static - in your case you want it dynamic, and that is doable as well I think. You key reqs are: stored separately, secured, non-editable, and updated across content when the snippet changes. So, if you went the ePhox route, I think it would have to insert a tag/ pointer to the database value.

2. Why do any of that in ePhox or TinyMCE? In your CTD, you could add an attribute called Snippet, and handle the insertion of the snippet on the page via code. Whatever you place in ePhox/ TinyMCE editor is placed in the text value, persisted in the database - and it's editable (whether it's a tag pointer or the actual text value of the Snippet). That's what these widgets are for, editing text. With this option, you can make sure the user never changes the value.

You can try this.

<![if !supportLists]>1. <![endif]>Create snippet CTD where in you can create snippet content instances which can be used across all other content.

<![if !supportLists]>2. <![endif]>Insert the snippet content instance link into Ephox/TinyMCE. Think on how efficiently you can identify these links in next step.

<![if !supportLists]>3. <![endif]>While rendering the Ephox/TinyMCE content, parse the Ephox/TinyMCE content, find and replace the snippet link with snippet content.

Referenced Item Content type	List of content types to which all this CI can be referenced, This attribute is required only if you wanted to show different value based on base content type

	first-snippet	Some word/Sentence
	second-snippet	http://google.com
