Login component in LS3.1

I'm looking at Login component in LS3.1. Can someone provide a sample code on how this component works out of the box? Specifically where and how do I specify the connection parameters? I will be writing a custom validation controller, but for now would like to see a working sample "as is".

Also, is this component related to "Requires Login" page setting? If I set this to "yes" for a given page will I be redirected to specified login page in default.site? My guess that page would have to have the above mentioned login component, correct?

In LS Login Component is being used to design an Login Pgae or to give an Login/Authentication Functionality to the site.

If you set the Option "Requires Login" page setting" to "YES" then that page will require authentication of the user by using an specified login page,now its up to the user that he can design the login page using LS Login Component or can design the page using Form Builder Components.

This Component is provided to make One Step Creation of An Login Page.Edit that Component after adding it to page and check the properties ?

As such i am not sure but there is no sample code available ,you have to build your own.

You probably still have the .spar files if you wanted to install them. You can just create a new workarea and then do "install_archive.ipl component-guide.spar vpath-to-workarea" from your teamsite-home/install directory. The component-guide.spar (in your /install directory) doesn't have any components or anything that would interfere with your other workareas, only page examples of the OOTB components.

That said, what I understand the basics to be if you're using the OOTB user database are: (1) create a page, drop the OOTB login component on it, (2) configure the Site with that page as its login page, (3) optionally put one of the OOTB registration components on a page to create/manage users. I think step 2 covers your "requires login" use case.
