Deployment Agent problem
cari
Hi,
The deployment agent uses the user sa to connect to the sqlserver database.
The database password for the user sa has been changed by the database team. After the change of the password we are getting the following error in deployment agent when we login through the deployment agent client.
System Error
The following System Error occurred:
Method Error Number: 0
Error Description : AgentDB.Projects.GetProjects() : > Error (-2147217843) [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'sa'.
Call Stack : AgentDB.Projects.GetProjects()
DB Call Outputs
Is there a way to change the password in deployment agent so that we can login and use the deployment agent application?
Please advise.
Thanks.

What is the version of DA that you have?
cari
The deployment agent version is 4.06.0002

In the DB web client folder look for include\constants.asp. You should be able to change the password there. From 4.6 this is encrypted.

I just checked the version of deployment agent. The version is MediaBin Deployment Agent, Release MediaBin 4.6.2 Build 17.
Please advise.

Its still the same. You can change the settings there is plain text and then run EncryptDNS or DNSEncrypt (or something like that) utility that is available in the DA folder from command line. The DNS string should get encrypted.

From 4.6.2 release notes:
The Database connection string (DSN) for Deployment Agent is now encrypted. The result of this is that in this release, both the DSN for the Deployment Agent Service and the DSN for the DA Web client are encrypted.
The DSN for the DA Service is checked by the DA Service on service startup. If the DSN is not encrypted, the Services will encrypt it on startup. The same holds true for the DA Web client. As a result, you may change the DSN in either place by following these steps:
To change the DSN for the DA service:
Replace encrypted DSN in registry with clear text
DA service will encrypt and overwrite registry value on startup
To change the DSN for the DA Web client:
Edit the DataConn parameter in include\constants.asp
Replace the DSN with clear text
Execute the script “EncryptDSN.vbs”in the DA installation folder to encrypt the DSN
The DB Connect String (DataConn) is now encrypted
