Performing Deployment process programatically

Hi All,

I would like to know if it is possible to create an event which triggers the deployment process programatically?

For example, if I click the approval button then a event is trigger which get all CI which has the status approve and finally execute the deployment process.

Before I start to code, I would like to read your suggestions, experiences, etc.

You cannot define new events in system. At least it is not supported extension of product. But you can add custom button to user interface.

 

If you look at WEM developer Documentation you can find the list of all available OOTB events.

 

Clicking on OOTB Approve Button will trigger an Content Update Event on the Managed Object which is/are selected. This event you can handle by writing a Post-Persistence Managed Object Update listener. You can add your logic to this listener to potentially fire a deployment job.

 

I have not done this (firing a deployment job from a listener) but should be doable.

 

Note – This will only fire on one Managed Object at a time.

 

Also you can create a custom button on the console and write a backend supporting service to do this logic is a web service. Then you can write any logic you want in the custom web service till the time product API supports it.

 

Also please don’t call your custom button “Approve” as there is an OOTB button which has that functionality.
