Custom Fixed Layout

I have created Custom Fixed Layout and placed under my workarea
/iw/config/fixed-layout/descriptive.xml

Now when I try to use that layout as site default, I get JS alert saying "You can not change the layout type site default from Freestyle to Fixed Layout"

Also when I try to select the custom layout on Page, the layout not getting listed in the drop down.

Can anyone let me know if I am missing any config? I followed the steps listed in SP Dev guide.

Im using TS 6.7.2 SP1

It would be better, if you could provide your descriptive.xml as mostly in case the xml has any issues, IWOV will not provide the error instead it just does not displays the name in drop down.

Have you defined your custom-layout in the file [pagetype-config.xml]
at location [ iw-home/local/config/lib/content_center/livesite_customer_src/etc/conf/livesite_customer]

This file contains customer-defined customizations. Modifying the customized definitions requires rebuilding the livesite_customer toolkit.

Hi all,

I'm facing exactly the same issue. When I'm creating a new site then its allowing me to set the custom layout. But on existing sites I'm unable to add pages with custom layout.

I looked at the pagetype-config.xml file as well. Please elaborate what all changes do I need to make in this file. Or let me know where I can details about this.

I'm using TS 6.7.2, SitePublisher 3.1. I also followed the steps as in SP dev guide.

As each layout has following things :
name (and optional key attribute for internationalization),
a stylesheet,
a class that implements com.interwoven.livesite.layout.impl.LayoutIfc.

The interface [LayoutIfc] has a single method
getLayout(List containers),
This method returns a com.interwoven.livesite.common.xml.DOMWrapper object. The passed list of containers implement the com.interwoven.livesite.model.ContainerIfc interface, which describes the geometry of a component on the page.

The get layout method may process the geometry into any XML format expected by the layout's XSL stylesheet.

This is just an brief introduction,refer to the LS Dev Guide(Section: Advanced Configurations and Custom Types)
