Long Named Shallow Level Folders vs. Short Named Deep Folders
System
Looking at dividing assets into folders. Is there any data that would recommend one folder architecture over the other. (I can run the test, but if someone already has, I would rather leverage your learning.)
Example Architectures:
Example 1: 3 levels deep, assets only at terminus folders - total 10,000 folders
folder_US
folder_US_Truck
folder_US_Truck_C55
folder_US_Sedan
folder_US_Sedan_PL3
folder_US_Sedan_AL4
folder_ZH
Example 2: 1 level deep, assets only at terminus folders - total 10,000 folders
folder_US_Truck_C55
folder_US_Sedan_PL3
folder_US_Sedan_AL4

The answer somewhat depends on a couple of questions. Folders represent the basic unit of security in MediaBin.
1) Do you anticipate different folders having different security levels?
2) Do you anticipate a lot of situations in which the users will be rooting a search at a folder of interest (thus implicitly narrowing by location)?
Cheers,
