email to more then one domain: one external

I have a workflow (not WFM) that uses an external task that uses iw_solution_email.ipl. In the past we have only had the need to send email to internal folks.

We now need to send notifications from workflows to external email accounts.

I have tried to add a second domain to the maildomain entry under iwsend_mail in iw.cfg separating each domain with a comma. I am still getting failures.

Are there configuration files other then iw.cfg or other sections of iw.cfg that I need to affect in order to send emails to multiple domains?

I've never had a problem sending emails to external addresses using iw_solution_email.ipl. Never had to do anything special to make it work. Maybe if you posted your code showing how you declare those email addresses, it might enlighten us to what you're doing wrong.

Talk to your IT Dept. Often there are filters preventing automated emails outsite the normal domain. You do not need to do anything else to iw.cfg. But if you email to me@gmail.com it may not get forwarded by your relay.

This is to prevent someone from sending spam from a corporate server.

Get rid of the second domain specification in your iw.cfg file - that's just "wrong" and might break something else.

As Nipper said - you have to check with the people responsible for your SMTP server - however, before you call them - enable both debugging and verboseness in iw_solution_email.ipl try running it (with the external address) and look at the files that get written into IWHOME/tmp/[cci/] - it should show you the SMTP debugging information that will make it easier for you to provide the information to your IT folks.
