Contents Store Backup

I'm Sae as a project manager of a TeamSite imprementation project.

I have a question regarding contents backup from a live server to a backup server.

[Environment]
Windows Server 2003 SP1
TeamSite 6.5.0sp3

Interwoven staff told us, you should use "iwmigrate" and then "iwstore" in an official manner.

But, we want to do it in a simple way: just copy the iw-store directory from the live server to the back up server, then user "iwidmap" to switch the SID.
Do you think it is a good and simple way to do the backup? Or any trouble would be expected?

Are you talking about two TS650SP3 servers?
If so, and you freeze the source server for the duration of the copy to the target server - you should be fine (after running iwidmap on the target side).

However, if this is going to be a frequently repeated process, and no changes are being made directly on the target server (until/unless you switch over to using it instead of the source server) - then iwmigrate may save you time in the long run as the size of your store grows. This would be because you can tell iwmigrate to just start transferring the information since the last edition already transferred, instead of copying the entire store over the network (again, and again, and again).

If you're dealing with a 1 Gig backing store - it may not be worth the effort, but if you're dealing with a 50 Gig backing store, it probably will be worth the effort.

Note: If you use iwmigrate, you want to run iwfsshrink on the target side (with the server process running) after the migration has completed.
