Dear All,

We were using clear passwords in the database.xml which is used by DAS and also by our custom Perl scripts. Someone now wants these passwords to be encrypted which is not an issue as you can you use the CLT iwsyndb to encrypt the passwords. The problem we have is that our custom scripts stop working, as the passwords are now encrypted. Does anyone know what method I can use in the custom scripts to decrypt the passwords on the fly?

By custom scripts - do you means scripts that do Perl DBI? Or scripts that run DataDeploy via the iwodcmd CLT?

If the latter, it should not be an issue - as the DD config file should reference the appropriate entry in the database.xml file and DD should handle it.

If the former, I'm not sure there is a CLT for decrypting the password (would kind of defeat the purpose of encrypting it in the first place, I think)

Using Perl DBI so I guess I will have to use yet another configuration file and write my own encrypt/decrypt solution. Which is not an issue but not great if I have to have two configuration files.
