BUG release :: TS 6.7.1 SP1

Hi All,

Few Days back i had raised a new post for TS 6.7.1 SP1 being very slow as compared to TS 6.1.

We had done ceratin testing and found out that the IW CLTs were the major culprit.

My personal suggestion to those planning to upgrade is to keep in mind the below issues before you upgrade. TS 6.7.1 SP1, is basically a BUG Release, ful of BUGs starting from VFE, Performance, and all.

Its better to be without support if you are having TS 6.1 then to upgrade to TS 6.7.1 SP1.

Before upgrade we were told that TS 6.7.1 SP1 has better performance than 6.1. Hope so IW had done certain testing before making such lies. If they have done the performance testing then they should share the results with end customers.

IW Support has confirmed the same!

The Bug is to do with an OpenSSL overhead which causes a slowdown of CLTs such as iwextattr. This happened when engineering replaced sciface/rpc with hopi in recent versions of TeamSite. This has not been fixed as yet (even in TS6.7.2) The work around for this is to use the CCSDK or to use a url command. There are examples of this in the "ts_671sp1_wfdev_v01_en.pdf". There's a full example of this in the PDF on page 39.

Don't know when IW can provide us a Patch for the same. May be after the EOL.

Are there any other users who are also facing the same Issue.

We recently went from 6.5 to 6.7.1. We have not experienced any performance issues with CLT's. Since most of our implementation was done before the days of CSSDK, we are rather CLT happy. Our system audit logs show ~25,000 CLT invocations yesterday spread out between:
- $iwhome/bin/iwextattr
- $iwhome/bin/iwcallback
- $iwhome/bin/hostname
- $iwhome/bin/iwgetlocation
- $iwhome/bin/iwgetwfobj
- $iwhome/bin/iwstat
- $iwhome/bin/iwconfig

We used to get farts where metadata was not probably set or deleted using iwextattr when the server was busy. While the jury is still out, we have not experienced that issue yet.

Overall, we have been pretty happy with the upgrade.

Hi,

We have done couple of Teamsite migrations.we are very much happy with the product.Its seems that you dint do any impact analysis before starting migration and don't blame the product .

For your information,when your are migrating a product,you should know the impact of ewebeditpro and its customized config files(Hope you know VFE is a third party product).May be because of the same you are finding bugs with VFE.

As far as I know the performance of the product is also good and you have to check the performance factors with your application before migrating.Hope you know what are all the factors which bring down the performance.

Out of curiosity - is the switch to using HOPI just slowing things down if you use SSL? If so, that's certainly a bug, but not likely to affect the majority of customers (as far as I know) who don't use SSL for their TS implementation.

Hi,

IW has confirmed that if we are using http:// then also the CLTs show a degraded performance.

I had created batch files{full of IW CLTs} and executed the same on TS 6.1 and TS 6.7.1. We ran the test scripts 5 times and then we presented the results to IW. Now the case is pending with REA {Engg Team}. As of now IW has told us that its a BUG ans we should be using ccsdk.

Moreover we had so many Issues with VFE that I feel that TS 6.7.1 is a BAD/BUG Release.

The things that were working in TS 6.1 are not working now. We are having 10+ cases pending with IW and don't hope the same to get solved. may be they will release Ts 7.** before that.

Moreover we faced couple of more Issues

1. iwmigrate does not work properly.
IW has cofirmed that there was a BUg which was solved in TS6.7.1 Sp1 Patch 2

2.Asset import sometimes shows error. Like 'Invalid argument' 'no such user'. etc.

3. When we edit a DCR and without adding any thing if we click on cacel then the DCR names changes to Incomplete form.

4. After applying the PATCH 4, TS preview is not working, we have tried all the tricks present in Support site. now the case is being looked by IW Engg Team.

5. For the VFE error IW was able to reproduce the error, so they have raised a case with VFE vendow.

On a personal basis I am feeling that IW does not ofically support Windows Vista, so they would be releasing a new product/patch which would address the same.

So its better to wait for that then to upgrade and loose your peace of mind.
