Teamsite workflow question

Hi,

I am using teamsite 6.7.2 on windows 2003 and facing a issue with the authorsubmit workflow.
When a user (A) submits a job, the job is created and the owner of the job is assigned to be (A). The owner of the task is the approver (B) which is picked up from a customized code and database.
The user B can can go and approve the content, which is as expected. The problem is that the user A is also able to approve the content, even though he has submitted the content for approval and he should not be able to approve the content.
This is happeneing because A is the owner of the job. Is there any way to avoid this without changing the owner of the job in the workflow?
The same functionality works fine in teamsite 6.5.2 (there also A is the owner, but A dosnt have permission to approve the tasks).

Just to understand this in more detail,

Have u tried to approve content by user "C" which is assigned for approval to user B.

Please check this out.. If this happens then there is a problem in configuration of user roles. of users A, B and C.

IS the approval task assigned to specific user or group? If its assigned to a group then all users belonging to that group will have permissions to Approve the task.

Hi,

If I try with a third user (User C), then he also doesnt have permission to approve the task, which is correct. Hence only the approver (B) and the submitter (A) has authority to approve the task.
Also, as metioned before, if I change the owner of the job to some other person, then A doesnt have authority to approve. So what I need to know is, if a person is the owner of a job, then does that imply he will have the authority to action the tasks under the job even through he is not the owner of the tasks?

Antharix, the task is assigned only to user B and not to a group. I can confirm this because, I can see the task in the workflow of only user B and not any other user's workflow.

I remember having to deal with this same problem a few years ago. Our workflow initiators were able to get around the approval process because they figured out that as owners of the job, they could approve their changes. We circumvented this by changing the owner of all jobs to some generic "iwoven" account. I don't recall if anyone ever came up with a better solution, but maybe Fish or Nipper would know. Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you want to change the job owner?

actually we have the same issue on 6.7.1, i tried to play around with owners of task and owners of file locks but i dont think it worked, i havent had a chance to go back to it and i dont think we want to change the job owner since sometimes the reviewer want to review changes from "VIP" first then the "non-VIP". i think if users have author role and nothing more, then they wont be able to approve their own jobs. also if they were in STDCC only with no WF jobs view/portlet then they will have no way to approve it.
