Shared file edit access

I am looking to find out if this is possible and what solutions people have discovered for allowing multiple users to edit a file in Collab at the same time.

What i am trying to doing is allow more than 1 user at a time to edit a Excel document that has the 'shared access' settings configured in the excel workbook. Excel has the inherent ability to do this as a stand alone document, but when placed in Collab it becomes a 'locked' file after the first user opens the file so all additional user can only open the document as 'read-only'. Is it possible to allow the file to be governed by Excel's settings so 2 or more users can enter information at the same time? Or will Collab prevent this?

If this is possible through Collab's web interface or throught the use of WebDav, please let me know what configuration i will need.

                This may be possible if you disable implicit webdav locking in Collab.  Unfortunately, this would mean you’d need to explicitly lock files you do not want overwritten when multiple users open the same document via WebDAV (for editing).

 

The setting is “dav.webdavLocking=false” (default is “true”).  You would put the setting in the Collab.props file and restart Collab.
