Extending Portal User profile

Have anyone extended the portal user profile using radio/check box as the input field rather than the documented  sample using text field? I like to add a new field like Is Maanger (Yes/No). I could use Text field but if I can use radio button or check box that would be cleaner.

Hi Casey,

You could edit entity_management.xml file, locate the <entity-property-descriptors> for the standard user and add below block

<entity-property-descriptor id="ismanager"

title="is Manager"

description="Is user a manager?"

type="java.lang.Boolean"

field-length="64"

editable="true"

searchable="true"

displayable="true"

required="false"

unique="false"

/>

 

If you are storing this property in sql, create a column for “ismanager” in Users table and edit entity_datasource.xml as specified in “Adding Custom SQL Properties” section of portal configuration guide.

If you want to store this property value in metastore, edit entity_datasource.xml and add the below property to metastore datasource. You don’t have to create a column in database if metastore datasource is used.

“<property-mapping property-id="ismanager" data-field-name="ismanager" />”
